DPS releases identity of man found dead after hit-and-run
AMARILLO, Texas (KFDA) - Officials have identified the man found dead on South Washington Street believed to be involved in a hit-and-run.
The man found was 27-year-old Murphy Maynard.
Officials determined the pedestrian had been hit by a vehicle based on the evidence at the scene.
The vehicle that hit the pedestrian has not been located.

Early Tuesday morning about 5:33 a.m., first responders were called out to Washington Street and arrived on scene about 5:41 a.m., Texas Department of Public Safety Sgt. Cindy Barkley said.
Randall County Sheriff’s Office closed off parts of Washington Street between Southwest 58th Avenue and Farmers Avenue.
Initial reports showed that a body was found in the roadway.
The Justice of Peace requested an autopsy.
The Texas Department of Public Safety and Randall County Sheriff’s Office are continuing to investigate.
The crash remains under investigation.
