Amarillo police searching for man accused of shooting at wife, wounding security guard Sunday morning
AMARILLO, Texas (KFDA) - The Amarillo Police Department is searching for a wanted man accused of shooting at his wife and wounding a security guard after an incident Sunday morning.
According to APD, on June 29 at around 3 a.m., officers were dispatched to the area of North Fillmore in response to a reported shooting.
Upon arrival, officers discovered that the suspect had fired an AR style rifle at a woman who was later reported to be his spouse.
Officials identified the suspect as 41-year-old Carlos Vidana-Najera.
Vidana-Najera also shot a security guard who was attempting to intervene.
Officials say the security guard was promptly transported to a local hospital where he is currently listed in stable condition.
According to APD, Vidana-Najera forced his spouse into a black Dodge Ram pickup truck at gunpoint.
Officers were unable to contact the woman via cell phone.
Later, the woman was reported missing by her family. Authorities were able to determine the direction of travel after they located the woman’s phone in a roadway near Happy, Texas.
A statewide all-points bulletin was issued in attempt to locate Vidana-Najera, his spouse and the pickup.
Officials say the pickup was witnessed in Odessa, Texas.
Authorities in Odessa were contacted to intercept the pickup, however the pickup and the occupants were not located.
Officials say the pickup and the woman were located by DPS and Lubbock PD in Lubbock, Texas.
The last known location of Vidana-Najera is in the Odessa area.
Vidana-Najera currently has arrest warrants for aggravated assault with a deadly weapon and aggravated kidnapping.
