Former star wrestler, coach at Tascosa High School arrested for child sex crimes

AMARILLO, Texas (KVII) — A former star wrestler and coach at Tascosa High School was arrested for child sex crimes.
According to Potter County Jail records, Nick Herrmann, 31, was arrested Friday on two counts of improper relationship between an educator and student.
"Upon learning of the allegation, the District quickly removed (Herrmann) from campus, law enforcement was notified, and (Herrmann) resigned," said Amarillo ISD in a statement to ABC 7 News. " The District also made reports to Child Protective Services and the State Board of Educator Certification."
Details about the case were not released.
Last year, Herrmann was named the 5A Boys Assistant Coach of the Year by the Texas High School Wrestling Coaches Association.
He was a four-time state champion wrestler at Tascosa from 2009-2012.
Herrmann qualified for three straight NCAA Championships at the University of Virginia.
AISD's Full Statement: AISD has no tolerance for this type of alleged behavior. Upon learning of the allegation, the District quickly removed the individual from campus, law enforcement was notified, and the employee resigned. The District also made reports to Child Protective Services and the State Board of Educator Certification (SBEC). AISD will continue to cooperate fully with authorities. Any further information will need to come from the Amarillo Police Department.
