Amarillo police: 2 charged with murder in January shootings
AMARILLO, Texas (KFDA) - Amarillo police have arrested two men for murder charges in connection with a January homicide.
The shooting happened around 11:00 p.m. on January 24. Officers responded to a home on North Highland to find 23-year-old Everardo Guadalupe Leal with a gunshot wound. He was then declared dead on the scene.
A short time later, officers responded to North Apache for a second shooting. There, they found a man with multiple gunshot wounds.
He was taken to a local hospital for his injuries.
It was discovered the shootings and victims were related.
Police say it is believed the shootings were sparked by a fight that happened around 10:00 p.m. that night at the Grand Street Walmart.
Today, police say Homicide Detectives obtained a murder indictment for 22-year-old Isaac Arthur Botello.
Detectives also obtained an indictment for murder and aggravated perjury for 22-year-old Jorge Fabian Cabello.
Both men have been arrested and booked into the Potter County Jail.
