Suspect in event center shooting of security guard arrested in North Amarillo
AMARILLO, Texas (KFDA) - A man who police say shot a security guard and kidnapped a woman has been arrested.
Carlos Vidana-Najera, 41, is in Potter County Detention Center for charges of aggravated kidnapping with a deadly weapon and aggravated assault with a deadly weapon.
As we previously reported in June, officers with the Amarillo Police Department responded to a call of a shooting at an event center on North Fillmore and 7th Ave.
Upon arrival, police learned that a suspect fired an AR-style rifle at a woman, then fired at a security guard who came to intervene.

The suspect, identified by police as Vidana-Najera, then forced the woman into a black Dodge Ram pickup truck and fled.
The security guard was taken to an area hospital with life-threatening injuries. He was later reported as in stable condition but will require intensive rehabilitation.
A statewide all-points bulletin was issued in an effort to locate Vidana-Najera and the woman.
DPS and Lubbock police located the woman and pickup truck in Lubbock, Texas.
Nearly two months later, a US Marshals agent arrested Vidana-Najera at a residence near Pecan Avenue and Redwood Street.
A magistrate judge will decide Vidana-Najera’s bond later today.
