AMARILLO, Texas (KVII) — Frankie Lee Haigood, the man who pled guilty to shooting an 8-year-old in the head during a road rage incident, was sentenced to 10 years in prison.

Haigood was charged with aggravated assault with a deadly weapon. But he pleaded guilty to a lesser charge of deadly conduct with a deadly weapon.

Police said he shot Nicco Frausto in June 2022.

According to Nicco's dad, Eric, they had just left Hodgetown when Haigood ran a red light and almost hit them.

When Eric honked, he said Haigood fired multiple shots, "hitting my son in the head."

One of the bullets went through the rear window and then the headrest of the back seat where Nicco was sitting.

According to Eric, Haigood tried to get away, so he sped up and rammed into him.
