Amarillo woman arrested for murder charges of 2-month-old death
AMARILLO, Texas (KFDA) - An Amarillo mother has been charged for the murder of her two-month-old baby.
According to Amarillo police, on Feb. 21, at around 6:25 p.m., officers were called to a home at west Central Avenue about a baby not breathing.
A two-month-old girl died at the home as responders arrived.
During an investigation, evidence was found to place the mother, 19-year-old Ashley Harper, under arrest for Injury to a Child.
She was booked into the Potter County Detention Center that night.
After further investigation, Harper was charged for the Murder of the two-month-old baby on February 28.
She remains in the Potter County Detention Center.

AMARILLO, Texas (KVII) — An Amarillo mother is charged with murder in the death of her baby.
On Feb. 21, Amarillo police were called to a home in the 500 block of W. Central Avenue for a baby not breathing.
The two-month-old girl was already dead when they arrived.
As with all infant deaths, APD's Homicide Unit was called to investigate.
Ashley Kay Harper, 19, was arrested for injury to a child.
The charges were upgraded to murder on Feb. 28.
According to the criminal complaint, Harper hit her daughter, Eva Salene Diaz, in the head with her hand.
Harper confessed to the murder during questioning.
Her bond was set at $750,000.

According to the Amarillo Police Department, at about 6:25 p.m. Tuesday, Feb. 21, Amarillo officers were called to a residence in the 500 block of west Central Avenue on reports of a baby not breathing. A two-month-old girl was found dead at that location when responders arrived.
As with all infant deaths, the Amarillo Police Department Homicide Unit was called to investigate. During the investigation, evidence was found to place the mother, 19-year-old Ashley Harper, under arrest on charges for injury to a child. Harper was booked into the Potter County Detention Center that night.
After further investigation, a warrant was issued, and Harper now faces a charge of murder in the girl's death. The charge was changed on Feb. 28. She remains in the Potter County Detention Center.
