2nd suspect arrested for murder more than a year after man found shot dead in street

AMARILLO, Texas (KVII) — Amarillo police arrested a second suspect in the murder of Markell Toombs-Reed who was found shot dead more than a year ago.

On Wednesday, the Randall County Grand Jury issued an indictment for murder against Juade Rique Gonzales.

Gonzales, 18, was located at a house in the 1900 block of S. Marrs and arrested for the warrant.

He was booked into the Randall County Detention Center.

Toombs-Reed was shot January 26, 2023, in the 4100 block of S. Travis Street.

Police found 25 shell casings in the street.

Toombs-Reed also had a gun.

In January,Kevin Anthony Fortuna, 18, was arrested for murder and tampering with physical evidence.
