Amarillo man on probation for child solicitation arrested again in Childress sting

AMARILLO, Texas (KFDA) - An Amarillo man already on probation for the same offense is one of the individuals arrested in a Childress sting operation last month.

Childress Police Department led a multiagency operation on Nov. 20-21 at a hotel in Childress.

The initiative targeted the solicitation of prostitution involving both adults and minors.

Several individuals were taken into custody, leading to multiple felony charges related to the solicitation.

Childress police said that one was arrested for solicitation of a minor, Barrett Guy Shafer.

Shafer, 44, is a registered sex offender who is on probation in Randall County for a charge of online solicitation of a minor filed in June 2020.

Following his arrest in Childress last month, a motion to revoke was filed last week. He was booked into Randall County Jail on December 16 for his probation violation.

Shafer posted bond yesterday. Court records show he has retained Jesse Quackenbush as his counsel.
