Bettye Annette Montano and her son Alton Jagyr Montano died in a rollover crash while street racing on May 6, 2022.
The crash occurred at SW 34th Ave & S Lipscomb street. The mother and son were passengers in a Dodge Durango driven by Paul Montano, the husband and father of the deceased.
on September 21, 2022, Montano was indicted on two counts of criminally negligent homicide, a state jail felony, and racing on the highway resulting in serious bodily injury, a second-degree felony.
Montano appeared in court on May 21, 2024 and pled guilty to the two counts of criminally negligent homicide, with adjudication set aside for three years. The state waived the remaining count.
