The Amarillo Police Department is investigating an early morning homicide.

AMARILLO, Texas (KFDA) - The Amarillo Police Department is investigating an early morning homicide.

Saturday morning around 2:25 a.m., officers were dispatched to a residential area in the 4000 Block of S. Ong in reference to a 911 call from a subject stating that a female had just been shot.

The department says when officers arrived, 27-year-old, Cecelia Rodriguez was found dead from an apparent gunshot wound.

The caller was identified as 26-year-old, Juan Antonio Salinas III.

He was taken to the Amarillo Police Department Homicide Unit and was interviewed.

The Amarillo Police Department says after the interview, Salinas was arrested for on view murder and booked into the Randall County Detention Center.

The investigation is still ongoing by the Amarillo Police Department Homicide Unit.
