AMARILLO, Texas (KVII) — A teenager was killed in a shooting early Sunday outside an after-hours club in northwest Amarillo, authorities said.

According to Amarillo Police, officers were called at 4:18 a.m. after receiving "numerous calls" about shots fired in the area.

They found 18-year-old Damarian Grear dead from a gunshot wound inside a vehicle upon arrival.

A witness tells ABC 7 she heard gunfire around 4:15 a.m. at NW 2nd Ave and Adams, outside the after-hours club 'New York Bodega and Grill.'

There were 37 evidence markers on scene, some of which were only steps from the front porch of a home.

The witness said multiple families with young children live around the after-hours club, which she says recently reopened.

APD says the homicide unit was called to the scene and the incident is still under investigation.
