Man arrested after hours-long SWAT standoff

AMARILLO, Texas (KVII) — Amarillo police are involved in a SWAT standoff with an armed man who is hold up in a home.

Around 7:15 a.m., police went to a home in the 1000 block of Stuart Drive to serve a warrant.

Officers were told that the man was armed with a gun.

He refused to come out.

The APD Critical Incident Response Team responded.

The area from Southeast 10th and Stuart to Southeast 14th and Stuart was blocked off.

Just after 11 a.m., the suspect, Ruben Romero, 46, exited the home and was taken into custody. He will be booked into the Potter County Detention Center.
