Amarillo police arrest 17 year old in connection to Sunday double homicide

AMARILLO, Texas (KFDA) - Amarillo police have arrested a suspect in connection to a double homicide that happened Sunday morning on N.W. 9th Avenue.

Police say on Sunday morning, officers were sent to the area of N.W. 9th and N. Travis on reports of shots fired and people fighting.

When officers arrived, they found 18-year-old Chrisavion Deontay Green and 42-year-old Andy Wayne Curtis Galloway shot multiple times.

Police say the two were pronounced dead at the scene.

Through continued investigation, police say they identified a suspect in the shooting as 17-year-old Tavon Lin Ammons.

The Potter County District Attorney’s Office issued warrants for Ammons for two counts of murder.

Officials say the Amarillo Police SWAT Team and the PACE Unit found Ammons inside a residence on the south side of Amarillo.

He was taken into custody without incident.

Police say Ammons was arrested and booked into the Potter County Detention Center.
