AMARILLO, Texas (KVII) — A man accused of killing his ex-girlfriend will not bond out as expected.
The family of Erik Mitchell Rivas paid a bail bondsman $40,000 towards his $1,000,000 bond.
But the bail bondsman filed paperwork Tuesday to back out of the deal calling Rivas a flight risk.
Rivas is accused of killing Shereena Webster in August.
Police said Rivas broke into Webster's home, shot her multiple times, and then left town.

He was arrested south of Dallas.
Rivas was initially indicted for murder.
In December, a grand jury re-indicted Rivas for capital murder because it happened during the commission of another crime, burglary.
On Feb. 15, Rivas requested a bond reduction. But that was denied.
