Officers responded to 911 call for service during a domestic incident. Upon arrival the officers search the residence and suspect runs before pointing a handgun at officers. Officer fires one round at the suspect as the suspect is pointing gun at them.

Suspect then runs out the backdoor. Officers give chase to apprehend the suspect. The suspect hides behind cover in backyard then fires 2-3 rounds at the officers. Suspect runs
into detached garage and refuses to come out. SWAT team arrives and attempts to negotiate with suspect.

Suspect points crossbow at SWAT officers and is shot by two different officers. These officers are using rifles and the suspect dies at the scene. A total of 4 officers fired rounds at the suspect during this incident. The incident lasted approximately 5 hours.

Amarillo police: Man in SWAT standoff dead after officer-involved shooting

AMARILLO, Texas (KFDA) - Amarillo police say the man who barricaded himself in a shed this morning has died.

This morning, officers were called to a home on South Highland near the I-40 frontage Road on a disturbance.

Shortly after, officers heard a person screaming in distress and entered the home.

Police say a man fired shots at officers and they returned fire.

The man ran from the home and into a shed in the backyard, where he barricaded himself.

Police negotiators, the APD CIRT team and SWAT responded to the scene.

Police say SWAT and CIRT teams were able to use drones and robots to see inside the shed and try to locate the man, while trying to call him out.

After several hours, SWAT used the bearcat to make entry through a wall.

The man was then seen by officers coming out of the attic.

Police say he raised his weapon toward the officers, and officers shot him.

He was pronounced dead on the scene.

Police have identified the man as 45-year-old Pedro Amendariz.

Homicide investigators are on the scene.

The immediate area remains blocked off while CSI and investigators process the scene.
