AMARILLO, Texas (KVII) — The man who was shot and killed by an Amarillo woman after police say he broke into her home had an extensive criminal history, including murder and a child sex crime.
Cedric Cornelius Milligan, 53, was killed around 5:30 a.m. Thursday.
According to police, Milligan forced his way into a home in the 1700 block of N. Adams.
The homeowner grabbed a gun and shot him.
According to TDCJ, Milligan had been in and out of prison since 1991 for cocaine possession, aggravated robbery and aggravated assault with a deadly weapon.
He was a convicted sex offender. According to the Texas Sex Offender Registry, Milligan sexually assaulted a 12-year-old girl.
In 1994, he was accused of killing two men and stealing their cash and jewelry.
According to the criminal complaint, Milligan saw the victims at a club in Amarillo.
Around 4:15 a.m., a newspaper delivery driver saw Milligan and another chasing the victims in a car.
Both victims were found dead at 4:50 a.m. in a driveway on NE 26th Street. They had been shot three times.
Nine hours after the murders, Milligan paid cash for two plane tickets and took his girlfriend to Dallas.
When she asked Milligan, who was unemployed, where he got the "large amount of cash and jewelry," he said "Don't worry about it."
That night at dinner, Milligan was wearing a gold medallion surrounded by diamonds with a bust of Jesus and sunbeams on it. One of the victims had worn the same medallion to the club.
