13-year-old charged with murder after shooting at Amarillo park

AMARILLO, Texas (KFDA) - A 13-year-old boy has been arrested after a shooting at Benton Park in Amarillo on Tuesday.

Around 7:30 p.m., officers responded to the park on a shooting.

When officers arrived, they found 18-year-old Ethan DeLeon had been shot and began performing first aid until paramedics arrived.

He died at the scene.

Officers learned he was shot inside his car still on the scene.

From the investigation, police discovered a 13-year-old boy was the shooter. He was arrested and booked in the Youth Center of the High Plains for murder.
