Man sentenced to 30 years in prison for running red light, killing another driver

AMARILLO, Texas (KVII) — A man was sentenced to 30-years in prison for running a red light and killing another driver.
A jury found Paul Vincent Chavez guilty of murder on Wednesday,
Chavez then rescinded his decision to have the jury sentence him. Instead, he reached an agreement with prosecutors, pleaded guilty to murder and was sentenced to 30-years. As part of the plea agreement, Chavez waived his right to appeal.
Chavez was driving 70 mph when he ran a red light at SW 46th and Parker in May 2020 and hit another car.
The other driver, 58-year-old George Kenneth Ulibarri, was pronounced dead at the scene.
