Two charged with murder after robbery, shooting victim dies

AMARILLO, Texas (KVII) — The victim of a Thursday night robbery and shooting in southeast Amarillo died Monday and the two suspects arrested are now charged with murder.

The shooting happened at about 6:13 p.m. in the 4000 block of Neuches, police said.

Officers arrived to find a 17-year-old male, identified Monday as Juan Angel Simental, Jr., who had been robbed and shot.

The victim was taken to a hospital with life-threatening injuries.

He was pronounced dead on Monday.

One of the suspects is a 14-year-old male who is in the Youth Center for the High Plains.

The other was identified as 17-year-old Lamar Tirson and he was booked into the Potter County Detention Center.

Both were originally charged with aggravated robbery.
