Closing arguments Monday in capital murder trial of man accused of killing ex-girlfriend

AMARILLO, Texas (KVII) — Closing arguments begin at 9 a.m. Monday at the Randall County Courthouse in the capital murder trial of Erik Rivas.
Rivas is accused of killing his ex-girlfriend, Shereena Byington (Webster), in August 2002.

Police said Rivas broke into Byington's Amarillo home , shot her multiple times, and then left town.
He was arrested near Dallas.
Byington’s 5-year-old daughter found the body and called her grandmother for help.
