AMARILLO, Texas (KVII) — An Amarillo woman is accused of killing her 7-month-old son.
Angel Lynn Marine Varner, 20, is charged with murder.
Around 11:30 a.m. Monday, police responded to a duplex in the 3200 block of Center Street for an unresponsive infant.
Before officers arrived, paramedics determined the infant, Jackson Knight Blackmon, was dead.
An autopsy -- performed Wednesday in Lubbock -- determined Jackson died from blunt force trauma.
According to court documents, Varner lives in the duplex withJackson's father and two other roommates.
Jackson woke up at 2:30 a.m. and was crying in his crib in the living room.
A roommate -- who was sleeping in the living room with her boyfriend -- told police Varner came into the living room, got her son and took him into the bedroom. The roommate heard a "thud" from the bedroom and then went back to sleep.
When police interviewed Varner after the autopsy, she admitted throwing Jackson on the bed and swaddling him with two blankets. She then "applied pressure to his abdomen" until he stopped crying. She then threw Jackson on the floor.
Varner told police she realizedJackson was not breathing. But instead of calling 911, she went to sleep.
Her bond was set at $250,000.
