Man sentenced to life, another given 22 years in prison for woman's murder

AMARILLO, Texas (KVII) — A man was sentenced to life in prison and another was given 22 years for the murder of a woman in 2022.

Amarillo police responded to a double shooting where two females were shot and one of them later died on Sept. 23, 2022, at the intersection of NW 3rd and Independence.

Officers arrived and found two women with life-threatening gunshot wounds.

Both victims were taken to the hospital for their injuries. Later, Karlee Messer, 29, died from her injuries.

The investigation determined that 21-year-old Adrian Ulloa and 20-year-old Matthew Brewer were the suspects.

The Potter County Grand Jury indicted both men for capital murder on Nov. 16, 2022.

Ulloa pled guilty and received life in prison on Tuesday, Nov. 12.

Brewer was sentenced to 22 years in the TDCJ-ID after pleading guilty.
