TULIA, Texas (KVII) — A 70-year-old man used a box cutter to kill his brother, according to court documents.

Joe Alvino Medellin is charged with murder.

Tulia police said just before 11 p.m. Tuesday, an officer was dispatched to 312 S. Dallas Ave. for a woman screaming.

When the officer arrived, a woman was "frantically screaming, crying, and pointing at the front door" of the home.

She said her brothers were arguing and one of them was hurt.

Alvino told police he stabbed his brother.

While police frisked him. Alvino said the knife he used was in his pants pocket.

The knife turned out to be a box cutter.

Police found his bother, Alfredo, near the front door. He had lost a lot of blood.

According to court documents, the two brothers got into an argument and started hitting each other. During the fight, Alvino pulled out the box cutter and "began slashing at Alfredo's body causing an an incision to (Alfredo's) neck and jugular artery area."

EMS arrived and began life saving measures, but Alfredo died at the scene.
