Man arrested for murder nearly one year after man found shot dead in street

AMARILLO, Texas (KVII) — Amarillo police arrested a man for the murder of Markell Toombs-Reed who was found shot dead nearly one year ago.
Kevin Anthony Fortuna, 18, was arrested for murder and tampering with physical evidence.

Toombs-Reed was shot January 26, 2023 in the 4100 block of S. Travis Street.
Police found 25 shell casings in the street.
Toombs-Reed also had a gun.
Investigators later determined the suspect was driving a light-colored Chevrolet Impala.

Kevin Anthony Fortuna and another teenage male were indicted by a Randall County Grand Jury in April 2024 for the January 26, 2023 shooting death of Markell Toombs-Reed.
