Man indicted for January wrong-way crash on Soncy

AMARILLO, Texas (KFDA) - A Randall County grand jury decided there was enough evidence to prosecute a man charged with intoxication manslaughter.

On the evening of January 3, officers were dispatched to Soncy Rd and Legend Ave on a major traffic accident.

A 2022 Ram 2500 driven by 29-year-old Carlos Coronado-Romo, was traveling southbound in the inside lane when he swerved into northbound traffic to avoid a rear-end collision.

The swerve would result in a head-on crash.

Coronado-Romo’s truck hit a 2019 Ford Escape, driven by 35-year-old Clebson Roberto Hillario Da Silva.

Da Silva was pronounced dead on the scene.

Da Silva’s passengers, a 34-year-old woman and a 2-year-old child, were rushed to an area hospital with life-threatening injuries.

Coronado-Romo was booked into Randall County Detention Center for:

He was released several days later after posting bond.

One of the bond conditions is to have an ignition interlock.

Court records show that Coronado-Romo has retained James Bryan Johnston to represent him as the case proceeds through 47th District Court.

Clebson was a Brazilian immigrant who came to Texas to pursue the American Dream, according to the description of the GoFundMe set up for his wife and daughter.

His wife and daughter were his surviving passengers in the wreck.
