Summary

Uniformed officers of the Amarillo Police Department were flagged down by family members of the suspect at 4701 S. Washington. Family told officers that the suspect was fighting with his father, and that he had a protective order/bond conditions for the residence of 6302 S. Leigh in Amarillo, Randall County, Texas.

Uniformed officers responded to the residence, and the suspect fled the scene in a vehicle. Officers
attempted to catch up with the suspect and found the suspect vehicle had crashed into a residence at 2700 Ries. Officers approached the suspect vehicle, and could hear the cries of a child from inside the bedroom
that the suspect vehicle was currently in. Officers entered the residence as additional officers approached the rear of the suspect vehicle.

As an officer approached, the suspect fired a single round through the back window of the suspect vehicle with a 7.62X39 AK-47 variant weapon. Uniformed officers took cover, and the suspect climbed out of the vehicle through the broken back window. The suspect approached officers with the weapon in his hand and refused to comply with orders. Officers fired rounds at the suspect, striking him, which resulted in his death.
