APD: Alleged sexual encounters with student happened at ex-Tascosa wrestling coach's home

AMARILLO, Texas (KVII) — The alleged sexual encounters between an ex-Tascosa High School wrestling coach and a student happened at the coach's home, according to Amarillo police.

Nick Herrmann, 31, was arrested Friday on two counts of improper relationship between an educator and student.

APD told ABC 7 News a school resource office was told about the allegations on Wednesday.

After investigating, the SRO contacted the department's Special Victims Unit which handles child sex crimes.

An arrest warrant was issued Friday.

According to AISD, Herrmann resigned.

Police said the victim is 17.

Hermann's bond was set at $100.000.

Last year, Herrmann was named the 5A Boys Assistant Coach of the Year by the Texas High School Wrestling Coaches Association.

He was a four-time state champion wrestler at Tascosa from 2009-2012.

Herrmann qualified for three straight NCAA Championships at the University of Virginia.
