AMARILLO, Texas (KVII) — An early morning fire at an Amarillo hotel forced evacuations.

The fire at Rest Inn -- located at 2915 E I-40 -- started around 5 a.m.

When firefighters arrived, heavy smoke was coming from the roof and stairway.

The found a room on the second floor that was on fire.

The adjacent rooms were evacuated.

The fire was put out and fire marshals were called to investigate.
