Amarillo man indicted for assault, child endangerment after Valentine’s Day shooting
AMARILLO, Texas (KFDA) - A man will be prosecuted for a shooting that happened on Valentine’s Day.
A Potter County grand jury decided there is enough evidence to formally charge 29-year-old Christopher SirCharles Williams with:
- Aggravated assault w/ a deadly weapon (5 counts), second-degree felony
- Abandon/endangering a child, state jail felony
On Valentine’s Day, officers with Amarillo Police Department responded to a call about a shooting near Jason Avenue and River Road.
When they arrived, they found Williams on location suffering a gunshot wound.
He was also identified as the suspect.

The indictment shows that Williams is charged with threatening five individuals with a firearm.
He is also shown to be charged with throwing a young child under age 15 onto a bed in an unsafe manner.
Each aggravated assault charge carries a punishment of up to 20 years in prison and a $10,000 fine.
After receiving medical treatment, authorities booked Williams into Potter County Detention Center on Feb. 15.
A district judge denied bond on the aggravated assault charges.
He remains in custody at PCDC.
