AMARILLO, Texas (KVII) — An early morning fire ravaged a family home, causing an estimated $26,000 in damage.

The fire at 902 SW 1st Street started around 2:40 a.m.

When firefighters arrived, heavy fire and smoke an d fire was showing.

Two crews made entry and started extinguishing the fire.

But it was too dangerous, so the crews were removed from the home.

Firefighters then transitioned to a defensive attack.

Fortunately, no one was found inside.

A dog and her two puppies were at the scene. But it's unknown if they were rescued from the home or just living in the yard.
