Summary

On 09-05-2024 at about 1759 hrs DPS Troop brought in JOHNSON, JOSIAH DEVON B/M DOB 05-21-1991 after being cleared at North West Texas Hospital. JOHNSON was charged with 3 original charges Tampering w/Gov Records, Intrefere w/Public Duties & Poss CS.

JOHNSON was uncooperative in at the time of booking and as a result was placed in a high observation cell in Medical at about 0320 hrs on 09-06-2024. At about 0825 hrs on 09-06-2024 JOHNSON was found unresponsive and life saving measures were started by Corrections and Medical Staff. Amarillo Fire Department and ambulance staff were called arriving a short time later and continued life saving measures.

At 0900 hrs on 09-06-2024 ambulance staff ended life saving measures and pronounced JOHNSON deceased. JP-3 Gary Jackson and Texas Ranger Max Hon esto were contacted to conduct the investigation. Judge Jackson ordered an autopsy to be conducted 09-10-2024 in Lubbock and will be attended by Texas Ranges.
