AMARILLO, Texas (KVII) — A murder suspect who Amarillo police say stood over his victim and kept shooting was indicted.

A Potter County grand jury indicted Keon Trashone Mathis, 25, on one count of murder.

Police said he killed Anthony Dunn on Sept. 18 at the Larsson Apartments.

According to the criminal complaint, Vember Jeffries has a one-year-old child with Dunn and is 9-months pregnant with Mathis' baby.

Jeffries told police Dunn had been stalking her, and that Mathis and Dunn had problems in the past.

The day of the shooting, Mathis and one of Jeffries' brothers were supposed to beat up Dunn at the apartment complex

When Mathis went to use the restroom, Jeffries said Dunn approached her in the lobby.

They got into a verbal argument which turned physical in the parking lot.

Jeffries said she grabbed Dunn's backpack and he took a swing at her but missed.

She then heard a gunshot and saw Mathis shooting at Dunn.

Dunn took off running.

Jeffries said Mathis kept shooting, apparently hitting Dunn, causing him to fall to the ground.

She said Mathis then stood over Dunn firing additional rounds into him.

Mathis is being held in the Potter County Jail on a $500,000 bond.
