Suspect arrested for arson after garage fire causes $50,000 in damages

AMARILLO, Texas (KVII) — A fire in the garage of a home in south Amarillo on Thursday afternoon caused an estimated $50,000 in damages. Officials are investigating the fire as an arson case.

The fire happened at 4617 S. Hughes at about 1:30 p.m.

The first arriving crew found the fire in an attached garage.

The fire did not extend to the house.

There were no injuries.

The Amarillo Fire Department dispatched a first alarm response for the fire.

There were an estimated $50,000 in damages done by the fire.

One person was taken into custody.
