DPS finds $2.5 million worth of meth in trunk of car, passenger arrested

OLDHAM COUNTY, Texas (KVII) — DPS found $2.5 million worth of meth in the trunk of a car.

According to court documents, around 7 p.m. on March 5, a state trooper stopped a Nissan Altima on I-40 in Oldham County.

DPS said the driver was following another vehicle too closely, changed lanes when unsafe, and the car was displaying the wrong license plate.

The driver said she had marijuana in the vehicle.

The trooper's K-9 alerted to the presence of drugs in the rental car.

The trooper found four baggies containing meth in the trunk. The meth weighed 57 lbs.

Oscar Luis Deleon, the passenger, told DEA agents he picked up the meth from Scottsdale, Arizona and was transporting it back to Oklahoma.

Deleon said the driver knew nothing about the meth. He was charged with possession with intent to distribute methamphetamine.
