Driver captured trying to flee after police find SUV crashes into house

AMARILLO, Texas (KVII) — An early morning police patrol turned into a high-speed chase and subsequent crash on Tuesday when an officer saw a gray SUV speeding away in the Eastridge area.

The incident occurred at 2:33 a.m. when the officer noticed the vehicle and attempted to follow it.

The driver of the SUV sped up rapidly for reasons that remain unclear, prompting the officer to search the vicinity.

The pursuit ended near the intersection of NE 20th and Iris, where the officer discovered the SUV had crashed into a residence. The driver attempted to flee the scene but was apprehended by the officer.

A passenger was found lying on the ground beside the vehicle.

Both the driver and the passenger sustained serious injuries and were transported to a local hospital for treatment.
