Guardrail saves family from yet another car crashing into Amarillo home

AMARILLO, Texas (KFDA) - Police say speed and alcohol are a factor in a weekend crash that sent two people to jail.

The driver of a white Corvette C8 lost control and crashed on the S curved road by the Amarillo Country Club.

Earlier this year, when three cars crashed into the Mitchener family’s home in just six weeks, they approached the City of Amarillo for help.

Working together with the family, the City, along with TxDOT, installed a guardrail along the road’s curve.

The white Corvette’s crash was absorbed by the guardrail that was installed just three weeks prior, with no damage to the Mitchener home.

It is unclear when new guardrail will be installed.
