AMARILLO, Texas (KVII) — A driver was indicted for a deadly hit and run in Amarillo.

A Randall County grand jury indicted Bobby Lee Phelan for accident involving death, enhanced.

Police said Phelan hit Murphy Scott Maynard, 27, with a flatbed pickup on Feb. 14 near the intersection of Washington Street and SW 58th Avenue.

According to the indictment, Phelan kept driving "knowing the accident occurred" and failed to "determine whether a (Maynard) required aid."

Phelan was arrested Feb. 18 in Dodge City, Kansas.

According to the criminal complaint, Phelan "admitted committing this offense (accident involving death)" to his mother.

The enhancement is because Phelan was previously convicted of burglary.
